today was 3[star]-3-4. we have another dumb assignment to do.. satirical ode to a classmate? etc. I have a biology survey due tomorrow, a bioethics questionaire. it's hard to do, because I really don't give a shit about it- people should live their own lives and stop meddling with others'. people want to do drugs? drink? smoke? let them, why should anyone give a flying fuck? it's their bodies, minds, and lives they are messing with. and if they die, hell, they had it coming. I'm sure they will find another way, sooner or later, anyway. terri schiavo fits into the whole bioethic debate- if her parents wanted to care for her and for her to live on, who is her husband to say they have to starve her to death? why do in-laws have such shitty relations? what is the chance of that happening in other countries? wth did one family's inability to act maturely and rationally become a national ordeal? I don't see how they could not have come to an agreement. and some questions are just vague and random- yes/ no: "some pesticides shoud be banned." no shit; which pesticides? DDT? sure. pesticides that make your skin turn green? ok. chemicals that eliminate dumb people? hm. the whole bioethic field is really sketchy- for those not in biology, the types of questions that ask if you were hurtling in trolley with five people toward three construction workers, would you rather do nothing and kill the three workers, or push a fat man overboard so he would stop the trolley with his great mass, saving the workers but obviously not Mrbeerbelly, and would your answer change if the fat man was your uncle or the construction workers were Moe, Curly, and Joe, or if you were hiding out underground in a bunker with your pueblo and the communists were looking for you, and a baby started to cry, would you smother the baby, saving everyone, or let the baby cry, thus killing everyone. unintentional rant-tangent, time for historii.
